In 2023, The Seafarers’ Charity awarded £2.4m in grants to 50 organisations supporting seafarers in need and their families.

Our grant funding supports frontline organisations and projects that provide essential help for seafarers and their families in crisis. Each grant application is assessed against our core goals to ensure the support provided to ensure that your donations go to where the need is greatest.

Merchant Navy Welfare Board

Annual contribution towards the Merchant Navy Medal Fund.

Amount awarded: £100

Marine Society and Sea Cadets (MSSC)

Funding for the Sea Cadets national hardship bursary programme for young people from hard-to-reach communities and economically challenged families to access programmes otherwise beyond their means.

Amount awarded: £36,000

Annual National Service for Seafarers (ANSS)

A contribution towards the running costs of the Annual National Service for Seafarers held at St Paul's Cathedral.

Amount awarded: £1,000

International Seafarers Welfare and Assistance Network (ISWAN)

To deliver a sector-wide, collaborative campaign which raises awareness of the challenges faced by women seafarers; educates on the value of male allyship; and advocates for a safe and inclusive future for all seafarers. Generously co-funded by the UK P&I Club (£30,000)

Merchant Navy Welfare Board

Funding for an Equity, Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Pilot Project co-created and co-funded by a cohort of maritime charities including The Seafarers’ Charity.

Amount awarded: £3,000

Annual contribution towards the Merchant Navy Medal Fund.
