In 2022, The Seafarers’ Charity awarded £3,095,449 in grants to 61 organisations supporting seafarers in need and their families.

Our grant funding supports frontline organisations and projects that provide essential help for seafarers and their families in crisis. Each grant application is assessed against our core goals to ensure the support provided to ensure that your donations go to where the need is greatest.

International Seafarers' Welfare & Assistance Network

Funding for SeafarerHelp, a free, confidential, multilingual 24/7 365 days per year helpline available to the estimated 1.6 international seafarers & their families. (Joint funding in partnership with ITF Seafarers Trust & TK Foundation for 3 year period.)

Amount awarded: £127,355

Stella Maris

Grant to support and expand Stella Maris’ welfare provision and ship visiting programme for seafarers and fishers across UK ports.

Amount awarded: £120,000

Fishing into the Future

Grant funding to support:

1. The employment of an Executive Director to manage the charity.

2. Match funding to enable fishers participation in two Fishing Into The Future co-management workshops.

Amount awarded: £47,812

The Nautical Institute

Funding the development of 4 internationally recognised Leadership & Management and Coaching & Mentoring training courses recognised by The Institute of Leadership and Management to improve standards of onboard leadership.

Amount awarded: £15,000

Maritime Charities Group - Nautilus Welfare Fund

Subscription payment for 2023 membership of the Maritime Charities Group - a collaboration of funders of maritime welfare services

Amount awarded: £10,000

Fishing into the Future

Co-funding to enable 80 fishers to participate in a social survey workshop which will be held in 4 English ports. The workshops will inform a DEFRA social survey on the welfare needs of fishers.

Amount awarded: £3,000
