In 2023, The Seafarers’ Charity awarded £2.4m in grants to 50 organisations supporting seafarers in need and their families.

Our grant funding supports frontline organisations and projects that provide essential help for seafarers and their families in crisis. Each grant application is assessed against our core goals to ensure the support provided to ensure that your donations go to where the need is greatest.

Stella Maris

Funding to develop and expand Stella Maris’s welfare services to seafarers and fishers across UK ports through its ship visiting programme.

Amount awarded: £120,000

Sailors' Society

Funding for the Crisis Response Network, a free global 24-hour service supporting seafarers and their families following critical incidents e.g. abandonment, piracy, natural disasters etc.

Amount awarded: £96,500

Sailors' Society

Funding to support plans to build Sailors' Society's capacity to transition to a new virtual 24/7 approach to meet the needs of seafarers and their families today, and in the future.

Amount awarded: £65,000

The Misson to Seafarers

Unrestricted core funding to assist with consolidation and strengthening services to seafarers, and also developing new projects.

Amount awarded: £50,000

UK Sailing Academy

Top-up funding for salaries of two welfare roles and associated resources enabling UKSA to support the wellbeing of beneficiaries when training at UKSA and in the industry, to promote better working lives at sea.

Amount awarded: £12,218

Stella Maris

Grant to Stella Maris Kenya to consolidate the growth of its capacity and welfare services across Mombasa, Malindi, Nakuru and Homa Bay during 2023-24.

Amount awarded: £35,695
