In 2023, The Seafarers’ Charity awarded £2.4m in grants to 50 organisations supporting seafarers in need and their families.

Our grant funding supports frontline organisations and projects that provide essential help for seafarers and their families in crisis. Each grant application is assessed against our core goals to ensure the support provided to ensure that your donations go to where the need is greatest.

Mindfully Wired

Grant funding awarded to extend the financial ‘Safety Net’ to UK-based merchant seafarers through the development of a website consisting of financial capability resources.

Amount awarded: £3,720

Fishermen’s Mission

Grant funding awarded to provide hardship grants to commercial fishers in England whose livelihoods have been impacted by the unexplained deaths of lobster, crab and poisoned fish stocks.

Amount awarded: £5,000

Clyde Fishermen’s Trust

Grant funding awarded to support two full-time project managers and one part-time fundraiser to develop and lead a comprehensive range of projects to ensure the long-term financial sustainability and resilience of fishers in Scotland.

Amount awarded: £75,000

International Seafarers' Welfare & Assistance Network

A grant awarded from the Seafarers International Relief Fund for financial hardship grants to Filipino seafarers and their dependants, as well as next of kin of deceased seafarers, who are impacted by COVID-19 in the Philippines.

Amount awarded: £95,000

Greenwich Citizens Advice Bureau Limited

Funding to support the Seafarers Advice & Information Line to provide a free Citizens Advice Bureau telephone advice service to fishers and merchant seafarers.

Amount awarded: £153,615

The Money Charity

Additional payment for a second round of edits to financial capability training course and webinar for fishers supporting the Fishing Without a Safety Net recommendations.

Amount awarded: £480
