In 2022, The Seafarers’ Charity awarded £3,095,449 in grants to 61 organisations supporting seafarers in need and their families.
Our grant funding supports frontline organisations and projects that provide essential help for seafarers and their families in crisis. Each grant application is assessed against our core goals to ensure the support provided to ensure that your donations go to where the need is greatest.

Age UK
to continue to provide and sustain Seafarers Group Telephone Friendship calls which reduce loneliness and isolation, improve wellbeing, and provide older seafarers with the opportunity to link up with others from their communities.
Amount awarded: £27,000
Sailors' Children's Society
to support children and young people from Merchant Navy families on low incomes to help with essentials such as school uniforms, winter clothes, educational equipment and more.

Age UK for The Silver Line
to ensure the continued provision of long running and much needed telephone friendship groups known as Seafarers Link, which connect older seafarers via regular, supervised telephoneconference calls.

Shipwrecked Mariners’ Society
to support emergency grants to Merchant Navy seafarers and their dependants who are in real poverty but who also do not fit within the organisations’ set criteria (e.g. 10 years’ sea service).

Shipwrecked Fishermen and Mariner's Royal Benevolent Society
The provision of a top up fund to support emergency grants to merchant seafarers and their dependents in real poverty but who do not fit within the charity's eligibility criteria of 10 years’ service at sea

Age UK Wirral
to support the wellbeing of residents at Mariners Park, Wallasey through assisting older resident seafarers to utilise IT to maintain connections with family and friends.
