In 2023, The Seafarers’ Charity awarded £2.4m in grants to 50 organisations supporting seafarers in need and their families.

Our grant funding supports frontline organisations and projects that provide essential help for seafarers and their families in crisis. Each grant application is assessed against our core goals to ensure the support provided to ensure that your donations go to where the need is greatest.

Stella Maris

A grant awarded by the Seafarers International Relief Fund to provide 200 food parcels per month for three months to seafarers impacted by COVID-19 in Chennai, Tamal Nadu, India. Each food parcel contains sufficient food for a family of five.

Amount awarded: £22,600

Stella Maris

A grant awarded by the Seafarers International Relief Fund to provide 10 oxygenators, food for one month for a family of 5, post-COVID medical care, counselling and occupational therapy for seafarers and their families in Cochin, Kerala who are impacted by the coronavirus pandemic.

Amount awarded: £87,150

Stella Maris

Grant to maintain and develop operational capacity to deliver welfare services to seafarers arriving in the ports of Cape Town, Durban, Port Elizabeth and Richards Bay in South Africa.

Amount awarded: £35,000

Stella Maris

To provide rapid emergency grants to seafarers and their families in need and distress through the establishment of the Stella Maris Centenary Emergency Fund.

Amount awarded: £20,000

South Devon and Channel Shellfishermen Ltd

Grant support for one year for the salary of the co-operative's Executive Officer who delivers a range of services to support and connect shell fishermen in the South Devon and Channel area.

Amount awarded: £25,000

Shipwrecked Fishermen and Mariner's Royal Benevolent Society

The provision of a top-up fund to support emergency grants to those Merchant Navy seafarers and their dependants in real poverty, but who do not fit within the organisations' set criteria (e.g. 10 years' sea service).

Amount awarded: £15,000
