In 2025, The Seafarers’ Charity awarded over £2.7m through 60 grants to 53 organisations supporting seafarers in need and their families.
Our grant funding supports frontline organisations and projects that provide essential help for seafarers and their families in crisis. Each grant application is assessed against our core goals to ensure the support provided to ensure that your donations go to where the need is greatest.

Maritime Volunteer Service
Digital finances for sustainability
To implement a new digital finance system and thereby: 1) significantly increase numbers of beneficiaries, specifically retired and prospective seafarers; 2) improve individual outcomes, specifically around reducing social isolation and enhancing confidence/self-efficacy; 3) dramatically enhance organisational sustainability through real-time resource management and targeting investment at locations and activities that achieve greatest impact.

ELearning module - the maritime industry
To provide a free learning resource for all health care professionals beginning work and continuing to work within the maritime industry.

The St. John and Red Cross Defence Medical Welfare Service (DMWS)
Health and Wellbeing Navigation
Funding to support seafarers at their time of need with health and wellbeing issues and concerns, helping them to build and live better lives.

South Western Fish Producer Organisation
Skipper Leadership Programme
Project to develop and implement a targeted leadership and mentoring programme designed specifically for fishing vessel skipper

The Cranfield Trust
Capacity Building
To provide intensive capacity-building support to five charities in The Seafarers’ Charity’s grant portfolio through expert business consultancy. This will equip the charities with the tools, insight, and confidence to strengthen leadership, governance, and strategy. In turn, they will be better placed to deliver vital services more effectively and sustainably, enabling more vulnerable seafarers and their families to access timely, targeted support.

The CHIRP Charitable Trust
Maritime Safety Insight Model
To create the core of an AI-driven maritime safety insight model that harnesses the global corpus of authoritative incident reports to identify behavioural and systemic insights that can be adopted by strategic decision-makers to improve safety outcomes for seafarers, the initial milestone of which is an Alan Turing Institute-led Data Study Group in September 2026.
