Stories and Impact

See how International Fund for Fishing Safety funding is improving fishing safety around the world - through practical projects, local partners and real results.

All that separates us is distance

“All that separates us is distance” tells the stories of Emmanuel, Dede, and James as they make a living in the fishing industry in Dixcove (Ghana), Pelabuhan Ratu (Indonesia), and Newlyn (UK), highlighting both the shared challenges of life at sea and the strength of their communities. The film explores family and community life, resilience, connection, and relationships. While geographic distance initially seems vast, it becomes clear that more unites these fishers than separates them.

Commissioned by Lloyd’s Register Foundation and produced by Friday’s Child, the film showcases the work of the International Fund for Fishing Safety (IFFS).
