Funding to support CHIRP Maritime
Confidential Human Incident Reporting Programme (CHIRP Maritime) has been providing an independent and confidential safety reporting system to for incidents, accidents and near misses at sea to seafarers worldwide since 2013.
Reports are received directly from seafarers and analysis is published on CHIRP's website and in its Maritime FEEDBACK paper publication in the languages most spoken by seafarers (English, Chinese, Filipino, Indonesian and several others) to raise awareness of incidents and contribute to improved safety across the maritime industry.
The Seafarers’ Charity has been a proud funder of CHIRP for the past three years and awarded a £60,000 grant in 2021 to support the core costs of the running of the programme for an additional year.
