Seapost - December 2025

The latest e-newsletter from The Seafarers' Charity.

In the December edition of Seapost, we reflect on the festive season and the vital role your support plays for seafarers who remain far from home, often isolated and under immense pressure at sea.

This month, we highlight our Winter Appeal, which helps provide urgent mental health support, crisis response and essential wellbeing services for seafarers in need during the Christmas period.

We share the impact of your support in 2025, with more than 400,000 beneficiaries supported and over £2.7m awarded to 53 organisations worldwide, all assessed against our five strategic outcomes focused on safety and wellbeing.

You’ll also read about how a multi-year grant is helping secure the future for seafarers’ children through the Naval Children’s Charity’s Life Chances Programme, supporting resilience, confidence and opportunities for the future.

In the latest Sea Views, Julia Gosling speaks with Paul Naranjo-Shepherd from CHIRP about safety culture in the superyacht industry and the importance of confidential reporting to drive real change.

We feature supporter Mark Ashley-Miller’s five-year sailing journey around the British Isles, which raised over £35,000 for The Seafarers’ Charity and is now captured in his book Harbours And Their Masters. Proceeds from the book continue to support seafarers, making it a perfect Christmas gift!

Finally, we celebrated a festive gathering with some of our supporters and donors at the Stelios Philanthropic Foundation on 11 December, thanking everyone who continues to be part of our ecosystem of support as we look ahead to 2026.

Season’s greetings, and thank you for making a positive difference to the lives of seafarers and their families!
