In this edition, we invite you to get involved in our Fly the Red Ensign campaign for Merchant Navy Day on 3 September, celebrating the men and women who serve or have served in the UK Merchant Navy, and download our free social media toolkit to help raise awareness and show your support.

We also look ahead to Waves of Influence: Women Leading Maritime on 11 September, a special fundraising lunch delivered in partnership with Sailors' Children's Society, bringing together maritime leaders and supporters while raising vital funds to support seafarers and their families.

This month, we celebrate the work of I Exist Too, a charity dedicated to creating a more humane maritime sector where LGBTQ+ people are recognised, valued and have the space to tell their stories, highlighting how our funding is helping to drive meaningful change across the industry.

We also feature the latest episode of Sea Views, where Gordon Foot shares insights from a career spanning Royal Navy submarines, offshore energy, marine construction and renewables, exploring how leadership, human factors and resilience shape safety at sea.

We highlight our joint letter to the home secretary, signed alongside FLEX, the International Transport Workers' Federation, Nautilus International, Stella Maris and the Ethical Trading Initiative, calling for urgent action to better protect migrant fishers working on UK-flagged vessels and improve labour standards across the UK fishing industry.

Looking ahead, we invite readers to join us at the Annual National Service for Seafarers on 14 October at St Paul's Cathedral, where seafarers, their families, maritime organisations and supporters will come together to give thanks for those who work at sea, honour those who have served and remember those who have lost their lives.

Finally, we encourage supporters to sign up for our 24 Peaks Challenge 2027, taking place in the Lake District, where participants can choose from the Gold 24 Peaks, Silver 21 Peaks or the brand new Scafell Pike Challenge while raising vital funds to support seafarers in need and their families.
