CHIRP and The Seafarers’ Charity sign MoU to strengthen collaboration on maritime safety

We’re pleased to have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the CHIRP Charitable Trust (Maritime Programme), which will see us working together on activities of common interest to improve maritime safety.

The MoU sets out four areas of collaboration:

  • Knowledge and content development: sharing ideas and initiatives to increase maritime safety, including potential podcast episodes, maritime safety films and the development of training courses, together with innovative projects that require funding.
  • Communications and advocacy: combining The Seafarers’ Charity’s strengths in communications, advocacy and government connections with CHIRP Maritime’s evidence, case studies and international connections.
  • Data and evidence sharing: identifying annual safety priorities and using shared evidence to support data-led stories and shared advocacy positions.
  • Partnership development: developing opportunities to work with others who share an interest in maritime safety.

Throughout 2026 we will meet monthly to discuss progress and plans, and will regularly share updates on progress. The MoU also provides for The Seafarers’ Charity to consider grant applications to support agreed initiatives in the first year of the agreement.
