Our grant funding supports frontline organisations and projects that provide essential help for seafarers and their families in crisis. Each grant application is assessed against our core goals to ensure the support provided to ensure that your donations go to where the need is greatest.

Humber Seafarers' Service
Grant funding awarded in 2022 to provide financial assistance in respect of continued losses incurred due to Covid-19 and the Omicron variant that brought in further restrictions.
Amount awarded: £30,000
Hounds for Heroes
Hounds for Heroes train and match their assistance dogs to 900,000 injured/disabled personnel in need. These dogs support this demographic with day-to-day activities and provide emotional support to those also struggling with mental health difficulties. Grant funding awarded in 2022 by The Seafarers' Charity will contribute towards the acquisition, training, and matching process costs for their assistance dogs.

Cobhair Bharraigh SCIO
Grant funding awarded in 2022 to deliver Day Care and Home Support to improve the quality of life for elderly seafarers living with dementia, mental, physical or sensory impairment who are isolated, lonely or frail in the Western Isles, Scotland.
Amount awarded: £12,800
Befrienders Worldwide
Grant funding awarded in 2022 to deliver emotional support to seafarers via the Befrienders network, whose aim is to assist member Centres (e.g. Samaritans) in providing appropriate emotional support services for people who are suicidal and/or in distress.
Amount awarded: £31,000
Age UK Wirral
Grant funding awarded in 2022 to support the wellbeing of residents at Mariners Park, Wallasey through assisting older resident seafarers to utilise IT to maintain connections with family and friends.
Amount awarded: £22,700
South Atlantic Medal Association 1982
Grant funding awarded to contribute to the total costs of a weekend commemorating the 40-year anniversary of the Falkland Islands conflict. 350 merchant seafarers who served in the conflict will be supported by this grant.
