In 2023, The Seafarers’ Charity awarded £2.4m in grants to 50 organisations supporting seafarers in need and their families.

Our grant funding supports frontline organisations and projects that provide essential help for seafarers and their families in crisis. Each grant application is assessed against our core goals to ensure the support provided to ensure that your donations go to where the need is greatest.

CHIRP Charitable Trust

Grant funding awarded to support the core costs of CHIRP's maritime programme for the financial year 2022-23.

Amount awarded: £75,000

Cornwall Community Development Ltd

Funding awarded in 2022 to support the fishing community with access to funding, claims and reporting grants.

Amount awarded: £150,000

The National Federation of Fishermen's Organisations

Grant to part fund new post in NFFO as a Risk, Safety and Compliance Officer to improve fleet compliance with safety and welfare regulation.

Amount awarded: £20,000

Fishmongers’ Company’s Fisheries Charitable Trust

A grant awarded in 2021 to provide communications support to raise awareness and promote a new Safety Audit project; and to provide expertise and support to develop the charity's policy development and advocacy work.

Amount awarded: £9,600

Seafood Cornwall Training CIC Ltd

A grant awarded to improve resilience and safety in the fish sector through efficient delivery of Fishing Safety Advice and a corresponding Safety Training Programme in the South West of England.

Amount awarded: £18,150

Merchant Navy Welfare Board

A grant awarded to the Merchant Navy Medal Fund for 2020 and 2021. The fund is organised and run by the Merchant Navy Welfare Board in conjunction with many others and Department for Transport are arbiters of the medal.

Amount awarded: £200
